Active Directory Expert – Ali-N’Diaga Mbaye, as a freelance consultant, was called upon by a group to restore their Active Directory after a devastating cyber-attack in the form of ransomware. The group’s infrastructure consisted of 5 forests and 6 Active Directory domains, each with its own unique management system. He successfully restored the directories, secured and standardized them across all forests and domains. In addition, he assisted the group in migrating their entire infrastructure to a new datacenter, including migrating their Active Directory and messaging services to AD Azure and Microsoft 365. With his expertise and experience, the migration was successful and the group’s new infrastructure was more secure and efficient.

Project Manager leads successful migration project for mutual organization Garance. As MOE (Management of Execution) Project Manager, responsibilities included coordinating resources, meeting deadlines and budgets, and managing communication. Utilizing technical expertise and project management experience, migration completed on time and within budget. Good communication and collaboration among stakeholders helped ensure success. Garance able to migrate to new system with minimal disruptions, resulting in high customer satisfaction.

As an operations manager and senior administrator, I had a diverse range of responsibilities that include acting as the technical lead, identifying and implementing solutions to various technical challenges, providing first, second and third level support to clients, leading a team of 12 people spread across 4 different sites, and securing the organization’s Active Directory. This includes identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities in the IT infrastructure, and implementing security measures to protect the organization from cyberattacks, such as deploying security tools and best practices like Pingcastle, Purple Knight or oradad, to ensure that the Active Directory is compliant with ANSSI security standards. Additionally, I establish technical and management procedures to ensure smooth operations and play a key role in planning, coordinating and implementing operational events with clients, and managing customer needs within the guidelines of the contract. This role has allowed me to develop strong leadership skills, technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to think strategically to find the best solutions to complex technical challenges. Overall, the role of operations manager and senior administrator is challenging and rewarding, allowing me to use my technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive the success of the organization, including securing the Active Directory.

Aquiring a Master degree equivalent in computer science

My military career has provided me with a unique set of skills and experiences, including my time as a field technician where I was responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment in challenging environments with the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) French procurement agency. I then had the opportunity to serve with the French Germain Brigade where I maintained and repaired equipment in support of military operations in Mali, gaining valuable skills in attention to detail, problem-solving, and adaptability.

As a sergeant, I transitioned into a role as a system administrator where I was responsible for maintaining and administering various military systems, including active directories. I gained expertise in implementing security measures such as access controls, network segmentation, and incident response protocols.

My expertise in active directory security was put to the test during a military mission to Mali where I secured and maintained the active directories of various military systems in a hostile environment, further emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity in the modern era.

Throughout my military career, I have been able to use my technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities to make a positive impact on the defense and security operations of my country. I am excited to continue to grow and develop my skills in the field of information technology and am eager for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
